Marble Safety Hunting folding knife with genuine stag handles in excellent condition. Marked Marbles Gladstone, Mich. U.S.A. The carbon clip blade is 4-1/4" long and is a full blade with some scratches and pitting. It is 5-3/8" closed with brass liners and nickel silver bolsters, opened 8-1/4" overall. With extension guard and floating guard. The stag has shrunk a little but has no cracks or missing pieces and has a great age patina. Pattern #83 Marble Safety Folder is an old knife probably after World War I but before WWII. Circa 1913 to 1940. Not common. It has been in the personal collection of the founder of CutlersCove.com since 1997. It was purchased from Jack Putnam who was an important mentor to the founder of CutlersCove.com and a very knowledgeable knife collector from the Texas Hill Country. Looks like Marble knives are no longer made in the USA as of Sept. 2009. A Hundred Years of Safety Hunters by Mark Zalesky [from the August 2002 KNIFE WORLD]
