Gerber Mark I and Mark II Presidents Collection Stag Presentation dagger knife set in solid walnut presentation box. They are Pristine Mint 100% plus with genuine Sambar stag handles with engraved brass guards and pommels, engraved by Pierce. Serial #136 of 1000. Sheaths where not included from the factory as they came in a presentation box. Made around 1977 and this was the top of the Presidents Collection group which was the top of the line and only 1000 made in the USA. The genuine Sambar stag handles are tight without any cracks. The solid walnut presentation box is a $100 value that is included with this set. Original copy from Gerber on the set reads: These are very special Gerber Mark I and Mark II knives. They are hand made by our most experienced craftsmen using the finest materials available. We are proud of them and hope you are too. The steel is 440C stainless, the very best! It is hardened to 57-59C on the Rockwell scale. The handles are select Sambar Stag from India. All brass parts are precision investment castings. Each knife is engraved by a master engraver. As you may know the first Gerber Mark II Prototype came out in 1966. The standard Gerber Mark I was discontinued around 1997 and the standard Mark II around 1999. No longer in production. Gerber has bought back in 2008 a new version of the Mark II with a black oxide coated 420 stainless steel blade and die cast aluminum handle.
