2. Question: Do you need to be a known knife maker to be listed in the KWG?

Answer: No. Every knife maker is welcome! Our goal is to list as many knife makers as possible; whither it is your vocation or hobby. We do require a link with a description back as that is only fair. That way we get traffic from each other.

3. Question: Does the KWG allow any site to be listed?

Answer: No. We only allow sites that deal with knives, swords, cutlery or related sites. If your site deals with any of the above it is welcome! Our goal is to list as many knife, sword and cutlery sites as possible. We do require a link with a description back as that is only fair. That way we get traffic from each other.

We do not have a place in the Knife Web Guide for true wholesale. We designed the KWG for the customer to find what they are looking for, not for the dealer to find a new source or distributor. Sorry.

Because the information and resources of the Knife Web Guide portal or vortal relate only to the chosen topics (knives, swords and cutlery), users avoid the frustration of being inundated with unwanted information and the time wasted on filtering irrelevant search results.

16. Question: Do you make money from your site?

Answer: Yes. Our sites KnifeWebGuide.com and CutlersCove.com are how we make a living. We really enjoy what we do but believe that producing cool content or a directory without a revenue model is a one-way ticket to the dot com graveyard. We are also dealers in quality vintage, used, old, antique, scarce and rare knives. These are our sources of income and we work at them 5 to 7 days a week.

The Knife Web Guide like other portals has to maintain, develop its services and pay for our advertising on other media. Consequently we are now relying on advertising income to help cover some of the considerable expense. We are a little way from actually making money from the KWG, having invested quite a bit in getting started. Right now as founders of the KWG, we are happy the system works well, is convenient for users and is growing nicely. In the next year or two we will be very happy if we start to turn a profit. Your support along the way is very much appreciated!

Cutlers Cove has been the total sponsor and developer since the KWG started back in October 2000. Starting with the new, improved and expanded KWG in Dec. 2004 we have sponsorships available to other businesses and are accepting banner ads from other knife, sword, cutlery related businesses and industries.

17. Question: Why does the KWG have wood related links?

Answer: Because many knife makers use wood for handle material. Plus several machines that a wood worker uses can be used in the knife making process. There is some over lap in the tools and machines used in wood working and knife making. Example: drill press, band saw and sandpaper. Of course we have many tool resources that a wood worker would not use but a knife maker would.

18. What is the cost to be included in the Knife Web Guide?

Answer: One Theme-Category listing is Free with reciprocal link. It may be possible to multi list your site. If you want more than the one free category we charge a fee for additional categories per year if we agree that your site also fits in other categories. This way if you have several services or products you can take advantage of the different Theme-Categories to showcase what you have. Click here for all the details.
